On tonight's Homework, Do we have to show proofs????
ReplyDeleteNicholas Moy
Uh, YUP!! In Geometry we call this a proof, in Algebra it's just called a detailed step-by-step equation solving method.
ReplyDeleteim confused about tonights homework... do we do the problem and steps in the left column, and then check it in the right?
ReplyDeleteThe equation steps go on the left and the REASONS (from above) go on the right.
ReplyDeleteThe CHECK STEP goes on the left BELOW your solution. Yes, it gets rather long sometimes... get used to it... I want to see the whole process.
You should be able to fit at most two fully solved equations per page!
Let me know if this answered your question.

ohhh, i get it... thanks!!!
ReplyDeletei have 2 problems
ReplyDelete1)do we put two reasons for 1 problem ie. (multiplication AND subtraction prop. of equality)?
and 2)I'm having trouble with #12
i see your problem for question #1... but i did this question differently so the reason is the division property of equality(idk if im allowed to say wat i wrote...)
ReplyDeleteThere should be a single REASON for every single STEP, i.e. take no STEP without a REASON.
ReplyDeleteDo the best you can... I'd rather see you struggle a bit and we'll go over it in class.
#12,14 & 16 are tough problems... give 'em a go (don't spend more than 10-15 minutes) and we'll go over them in class.
Approach it from this angle... what's your target and is there any step at all that you CAN take?

Uh... to answer your question... if the problem requires multiple steps, you should provide multiple reasons (one per step!)
