  4. For #23 (pg 504?), you are simply looking for 2 numbers that have a product of -63 and a sum of -2. 63 doesn;t have a lot of factors yo.

    For the inequalities, do you remember TEST POINTS??

    Hi, Mr. Chamberlain.

    I was just wondering what the method to solving quadratic equation without a "b" term was called. Thanks

  6. Dear Napoleon! I haven't seen you since the revolution! How are things? I see you're keeping up with your Algebra, like any good military strategist!

    Solving quadratics without a b-term is often simply called "Square Rooting"... or as your friend Emily says, de-squaring. I don't care what you call it... just that you can do it.

    Examples:

    x^2 - 49 = 0
    x^2 = 49
    x= +/- 7

    x^2 - 5 = 0
    x^2 = 5
    x = +/- radical 5

    x^2 + 25 = 0
    x^2 = -25
    no real solution (cannot take the square root of a negative number)

    Bon Jour,
    Mr. C.
